Lateral and medial epicondylitis, commonly known as tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow respectively, are painful conditions affecting the tendons in the elbow. Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and steroid injections are often considered treatment options for managing symptoms associated with these conditions. In this blog post, we’ll explore recent research studies comparing the efficacy of PRP and steroid injections for lateral and medial epicondylitis.
Recent research studies consistently support the superiority of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections over corticosteroid injections for lateral and medial epicondylitis. Randomized controlled trials, prospective cohort studies, and meta-analyses demonstrate that PRP injections result in greater improvements in pain relief, functional outcomes, and patient satisfaction compared to corticosteroid injections, with a lower risk of adverse events. As PRP gains recognition as a preferred treatment option for lateral and medial epicondylitis, further research endeavors will refine treatment protocols, optimize clinical outcomes, and offer hope for enhanced quality of life for patients living with elbow pain.
